Researchers warn of danger of long term obesity

A new study suggests the length of time people stay overweight can seriously affect life expectancy.

Researchers at Monash Universtiy in Australia traced health records of a sample of obese people in the US. They say the findings mean the dangers of obesity may have been grossly underestimated.

Tam Fry from the National Obesity Forum and BBC Health correspondent Michelle Roberts told Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty about the growing problem.
