Surrogate mother carries own cousin

8 April 2011 Last updated at 10:54 BST

After 17 years of trying for a baby, Sandra Barlow decided to investigate surrogacy. Instead of going through an agency she approached a member of her own family.

Her niece Emma, already a mum of three, agreed to carry her aunt's baby and after 18 months of trying gave birth to Maia.

Sandra Barlow and Emma Vaughan told BBC Breakfast about their experiences.
