Should egg and sperm donors be paid?
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority has begun a three-month consultation period on the existing rules governing egg and sperm donation.
People who donate in the UK are currently only allowed to be compensated for expenses and loss of earnings, a maximum of £250.
Dr David King of Human Genetics Alert and Dr Allan Pacey of the British Fertility Society discuss payment for egg and sperm donors.
