Young mother on the failure of her contraceptive implant

Help

Nearly 600 women have become pregnant despite using a popular contraceptive implant, Implanon.

One young mother, Kimberley, told BBC Radio 5 live presenter Victoria Derbyshire about discovering she was pregnant despite taking precautions.

"It's a 4cm plastic rod, that I believed would have stopped conceiving a child," she explained.

"I didn't discover I was pregnant until 31 weeks... I didn't have a clue why it had failed."
