Scientists say anti-ageing method 'within sight'

Help

Scientists in the US say they are a step closer to developing a method of turning back the clock by rejuvenating organs in the body.

By switching on an enzyme that holds back molecular ageing, scientists have been able to reverse tissue degeneration in mice.

Although the study provides only a "proof of concept", drugs are already being developed that might do the same in humans.

Dr Ronald DePinho is leading the research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
