Implanted chip 'allows blind people to detect objects'
Researchers in Germany say they have successfully tested a visual aid for patients with an inherited form of blindness, using a chip placed behind the retina.
Miikka Terho, 46, from Finland, was fitted with an experimental chip which allows him patient to detect objects with his eyes. Success was also reported in other patients.
