Obesity measured by body volume scanner

Mark Worthington reports on how researchers believe a new body scanner which measures body volume, rather than body mass, is more effective at identifying obesity.

Doctors at Birmingham's Heartlands Hospital have been testing the scanner for three years and say their technique could help save people at risk from high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.

However, BBC Breakfast's resident GP, Dr Rosemary, says that a simple waist measurement is just as good to tell if a person is overweight.
