Two young carers pushing a woman in a wheelchair

BBC News will be spending a day in November focusing on the lives of the thousands of children and young people in the UK who care for family members or loved ones.

The latest census in 2001 revealed that there were 175,000 young carers in the UK.

We will be trying to discover whether official estimates for the numbers of young carers are accurate.

Also, we will be looking at what support is given to children with caring responsibilities as well as the many challenges faced by young carers.

Read some of your comments and find out more about young carers in the UK.
