Health Check: Potential treatment for degenerative eye condition
The Accuvision clinic in London hopes a new procedure will help people who suffer from the eye problem Keratoconus.
This degenerative condition is where the cornea - the clear part at the front of the eye - thins, causing a cone-like bulge to develop. It causes blurred vision and in severe cases, vision loss.
The treatment is in the experimental stages and has not yet undergone trials. The long term outcomes are unknown.
Keratoconus is most common in India, New Zealand and Trinidad.
Health Check's Claudia Hammond reports.
