Martin Amis: England's multiracial culture 'a triumph'

27 August 2014 Last updated at 07:58 BST

The Zone of Interest by Martin Amis is a violently dark love story set against a backdrop of unadulterated evil, and a vivid journey into the depths and contradictions of the human soul.

"I think death does get going and we see in the Middle East now that the value of human life collapses," he told the Today programme referring to the crisis in Iraq.

He said that the multiracial aspect of England is a "triumph" and something which America lacks.

He added he will "maybe" move back to England.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 27 August.
