Father Macleod on owning a Van Dyck

9 July 2014 Last updated at 15:43 BST

Father Jamie Macleod explains what attracted him to buy a painting that later turned out to be by Van Dyck.

The painting was revealed as a Van Dyck on the Antiques Roadshow, much to the surprise of Father Macleod who bought it from an antiques shop in Cheshire for £400 in 1992.

The portrait went under the hammer at Christie's auction house this week, but failed to reach the £500,000 it was expected to sell for.
