Jeremy Paxman bows out with Boris Johnson tandem ride

18 June 2014 Last updated at 13:30 BST

Jeremy Paxman is presenting his last Newsnight on Wednesday, after 25 years on the programme.

Ahead of the broadcast, he interviewed long-time sparring partner Boris Johnson about London and cycling safety - while on a tandem bike ride.

The pair share a long history of colourful Newsnight interviews. The London mayor once offered to be Paxman's campaign manager if he stood for leader of the Conservative Party.

Paxman will continue to present University Challenge and other documentary programmes.

He has said he is very much looking forward to "going to bed at the same time most ordinary people do".

You can see the full interview - and more of the bike ride - on Wednesday, at 22:30 BST on BBC Two, except in Scotland
