X Factor musical to close early after poor ticket sales

28 April 2014 Last updated at 15:16 BST

The spoof X Factor musical I Can't Sing! is to close after six and a half weeks, due to poor ticket sales.

The West End show was written by Harry Hill and co-produced by Simon Cowell's company, Syco.

Alistair Smith, acting editor of The Stage newspaper, said although the show was "decent," the £80-90 ticket price was too high for the audience.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "The kind of people that might have wanted to see it... I just don't think they were willing to pay that much."
