Soul singer Candi Staton has paid tribute to legendary producer and DJ Frankie Knuckles, who has died aged 59.

Hailed as "the godfather of Chicago House music", Knuckles pioneered the electronic dance music which emerged from Chicago and revolutionised the club scene in the 1980s.

Staton, whose hit You Got the Love was mixed with Knuckle's track Your Love, said he would be "greatly missed".

The Grammy-nominee told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "My voice would just melt into his music. He was such a wonderful mixer, one of the greatest."
