All five Poet Laureates of the UK and Ireland are to hold their first ever joint public reading on Friday, as part of the Southbank Centre's WOW: Women of the World festival.

Carol Ann Duffy (UK), Liz Lochead (Scotland), Gillian Clarke (Wales), Paula Meehan (Ireland) and Sinead Morrisey (Northern Ireland) make up the first all-female line-up of poet laureates in the UK and Ireland.

Gillian Clarke, Carol Ann Duffy and Liz Lochhead spoke to Radio 4's Front Row about their roles as national poets and reflecting a nation in verse.
