Former N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos has appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' court accused of attacking a man at last year's V Festival.

The 25-year-old pop singer and former X Factor judge pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault by beating.

She was released on unconditional bail and the case will go to trial in May.

Ms Contostavlos was voluntarily interviewed by police after the alleged incident on 18 August and issued a statement denying the allegation.

Celebrity blogger Vas Morgan claims the singer charged towards him in a "drunken and angry state" at the music event last year.

At the time, a representative for Ms Contostavlos of Friern Barnet, north London, said: "Tulisa strongly denies assaulting Mr Morgan.

"She specifically denies punching Mr Morgan in the eye."
