'Jimi Hendrix was timid off-stage' says brother Leon

19 September 2013 Last updated at 12:26 BST

Leon Hendrix, the younger brother of legendary guitarist and singer Jimi Hendrix, has made a documentary about his life.

He describes seeing Jimi Hendrix learning the basics of music on a one stringed ukelele before upgrading to a six-string electric guitar.

One reason for his brother's success, he said, was his creation of a ''unique'' style.

''He was timid and soft-spoken off-stage and only went crazy on-stage,'' he added.
