Neil Gaiman is the award-winning author of novels including Coraline, Stardust, The Graveyard Book and American Gods, as well as The Sandman series, which Norman Mailer described as "comic strips for intellectuals".

His latest novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, tells the story of a lonely young boy who finds himself at the mercy of ancient supernatural forces.

BBC Newsnight's Arts correspondent Stephen Smith went to meet him to talk about the book, and his other works, including the Doctor Who episodes he wrote.
