Quentin Tarantino happy to join Oscar 'party'

Quentin Tarantino spoke to the BBC after finding out about hs film's nominations

Django Unchained director Quentin Tarantino has welcomed his film's five Oscar nominations, but admits missing out on a best director nod "bites a little bit".

He added: "I don't think we're going to win best film but... being invited to the party is a lot of fun".

His spaghetti western's Oscar nominations include nods for best film and best picture.

Christoph Waltz was also nominated in the best supporting actor category.

Waltz, who plays bounty hunter Dr King Schultz in the film, said it felt "good" to be nominated again.

In 2010 he won the best supporting actor Oscar for his role in another Tarantino movie, Inglourious Basterds.

"It's different this time because it was so out of my scope the first time," he told the BBC. "It's different because now it's a little more relaxed."

He added: "I've played a lot of roles for a lot of years without getting any recognition."

Waltz said his tip for the winner in his category was Tommy Lee Jones' performance in Lincoln.

Tarantino described Waltz as "a wonderful man and a great actor". "The way he does my dialogue, he sings it, he turns it into poetry," he said.

Django Unchained was also nominated for original screenplay, sound editing and cinematography.
