Hollywood actor Andy Serkis on his Imaginarium studio

Andy Serkis, who recently reprised the role of Gollum in The Hobbit, has been so inspired by the technology behind some of his famous roles, that he has set up a studio to develop the art of performance capture in the UK.

Serkis demonstrates to BBC News some of the ways in which technology can be used in films and video games.
