Danny Boyle on theatre 'opportunity'

Help

Danny Boyle has joined artistic directors from theatres across England to warn that further budget cuts could put regional theatres at risk.

Boyle, who directed the Olympic opening Ceremony, said theatres are the "modest cousins" of football, cinema and music.

He told the BBC's Will Gompertz that theatre is an opportunity for communities to experience "self expression and wellbeing".
