Ben Affleck, John Goodman and Bryan Cranston have walked the red carpet at the London Film Festival for the UK premiere of Argo.

Affleck directed and starred in the film which is based on a true story of a 1979 hostage crisis in Iran.

"I had to remember that it's also not a documentary you want to tell the thrust of the story but make it really exciting and fun and funny for an audience to watch," said Affleck.

Argo co-stars Goodman and Cranston had high praise for the filmmaker and actor.

"He is going to be very important director in Hollywood for a long time to come," said Cranston.
