BBC boss Mark Thompson says Jubilee was hit with viewers
The BBC's Director General Mark Thompson has been defending TV coverage of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Some critics said coverage of the Thames pageant had been chaotic and low brow, but Mr Thompson told MPs on the Culture and Media Select Committee that research had showed people gave the programme "just over eight out of 10" on average.
