Composer Malek Al Jandali says his latest album is dedicated to "the Syrian people and their noble quest for freedom - especially the people of Homs".
The acclaimed pianist told BBC News that his family were subject to violence and had to flee Syria after he released the song, Watani Ana (I Am My Homeland).
But he continued to produce more music and went on to release his album, Emessa (Homs) - which contains Freedom Qashoush Symphony in honour of an artistic protester who was killed and allegedly had his vocal chords removed.
Ibrahim Qashoush had been known for making an anti-government song that became popular with the Syrian protest movement.
