London 2012: Newcastle boxing inspires Cuban dance
A new dance work inspired by boxing opens at the Newcastle Theatre Royal on Thursday 3 May.
Sombrisa is performed by Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and its roots lie in the sporting traditions of both Cuba and Newcastle.
Itzik Galili, who was commissioned to choreograph the work by the Theatre Royal and Sadler's Wells Theatre in London to celebrate the Theatre Royal's 175th birthday and the Cultural Olympiad, spoke to the BBC World Service about the show which will tour theatres across the UK.
