Madonna performs at Super Bowl

American broadcaster NBC has apologised after M.I.A. put her middle finger up during her and Madonna's Super Bowl half-time performance.

M.I.A. was performing Madonna's new track Give Me All Your Luvin, alongside Nicki Minaj in front of a TV audience of millions.

"We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during half-time," said spokesman Christopher McCloskey.

Madonna was top billing at this year's half-time entertainment, which is said to viewed by more than 100 million people.

Madonna also performed three of her older hits, Vogue, Like a Prayer and Music.
