Pat's final moments in EastEnders
Albert Square stalwart Pam St Clement has left EastEnders after 25 years.
St Clement had played Pat Evans - formerly Butcher - since 1986, a year after the BBC One soap launched.
In the final scene of the New Year's Day show Pat was seen closing her eyes as she succumbed to terminal cancer.
EastEnders won the Christmas Day TV ratings war for the third year running in 2011.
