Veteran actor, Martin Sheen, has spoken of the "roller coaster ride" for his family, trying to support his son Charlie, dealing with "most profound problems and addiction".
Charlie Sheen, the highest paid actor on US television, was recently fired from the show Two and a Half Men amid reports about his troubled personal life.
Martin Sheen was speaking to Kirsty Young on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, about his life including his own struggle with alcohol addiction, his family and his acting career ranging from Apocalypse Now to the West Wing in which he played President Bartlett.
