A Never Mind the Buzzcocks episode with Russell Brand, pulled after the furore over his on-air phone messages to Andrew Sachs, is to be shown more than two years after it was filmed.

The last episode of that series, featuring Brand as a guest captain, was due to air in October 2008.

Brand quit his BBC Two radio show after he and Jonathan Ross had left lewd messages for Fawlty Towers actor Sachs.

The episode will be shown on BBC Two on Wednesday at 2200GMT.

The episode was hosted by Simon Amstell, who has since left the programme.

It also features TV cook Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, singer Rachel Stevens and rapper Sway.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks has not had a permanent host since Amstell left.

Veteran broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan, music producer Mark Ronson, Catherine Tate, Jack Dee, Josh Groban, Tim Westwood and Frankie Boyle have all hosted the show during the 24th series of the pop quiz.
