Toy Story 3 has become the UK's second highest-grossing film of all time in its seventh week of release.

The third installment of the Disney Pixar franchise has now taken £70,131,106 at the box office, second only to James Cameron's Avatar.

It overtook Mamma Mia! and Titanic's box office hauls of £69.2m and £69.02m respectively at the weekend.

But it still has a way to go before it catches up with Avatar, which has so far taken £93.4m in the UK to date.

The sci-fi blockbuster was re-released last month with an additional nine minutes of footage.

Toy Story 3 was also a smash-hit in the US, where it scored the biggest-ever opening for a Disney Pixar film, raking in $109m (£71.1m) in its opening weekend.
