Amanda Holden will be joined by ex-EastEnders star Nigel Harman and Four Lions actor Nigel Lindsay in the West End production of Shrek the Musical.

Lindsay, whose stage credits include Pinter's The Homecoming at the Almeida, will play Shrek while Harman will play Lord Farquaad.

They will appear alongside Holden, as Princess Fiona, and comedian Richard Blackwood, as Shrek's sidekick Donkey.

The musical will open at the Theatre Royal, on Drury Lane, in May 2011.

Producers Bill Damaschke and Caro Newling said the actors "blew us away with their audition performances" and that the search continued for the further 28 cast members.

The show is based on the story of Oscar-winning animated movie Shrek.

The musical version had a successful run on Broadway.
