GCSEs: Michael Gove admits proposals 'a bridge too far'
The education secretary has admitted he is abandoning plans to scrap GCSEs in favour of English Baccalaureate Certificates, describing them as "a bridge too far".
Michael Gove told MPs the exams watchdog, Ofqual, warned there were "significant risks" in trying to change both qualifications and the exam boards structure at the same time.
