Gove: All students should have 'world class qualifications'

Help

The Education Secretary Michael Gove has insisted that his proposals to change secondary education in England would create "world class qualifications" and give every child the opportunity to "achieve their utmost."

Ministers are considering replacing GCSEs and stopping exam boards competing with each other on the basis of how easy their exams are.

Labour say this would amount to a 1950s-style two-tier system.

Mr Gove told the House of Commons he wanted to make sure schools had a curriculum that prepared all students for success.
