Challenges ahead for the Scottish art and culture scene
The biggest cultural event in the world, the Edinburgh Festival, will generate more than £180 million for the Scottish economy and help to promote the nation's cultural identity.
Politicians in Scotland, in line with those elsewhere, are looking to save money but the arts and culture budget will be protected this year in the hope that a vibrant arts scene will pay dividends.
