How safe is the 'internet of things'?

Increasingly, technology companies are integrating the internet with other devices, such as household appliances or cars.

It might be convenient to check on your laundry or adjust your thermostat from the office, but could there be security implications?

How safe is the so-called 'internet of things' and what are the business implications if consumers find it too risky?

Internet security strategist Hugh Thompson, from Blue Coat, shared his thoughts with the BBC's Rico Hizon.
