The UK's economic recovery is "taking root" and "feels more secure", the CBI's chief policy director has said.

Katja Hall told the Today programme that businesses are now beginning to place more investment in "new plants and machinery", "innovation" and "training".

The CBI's latest monthly survey of 675 firms indicated that growth expectations were the strongest since the CBI started collecting data in 2003.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 28 April.
