Eurostar boss: Competition is good and will grow market

5 March 2014 Last updated at 11:18 GMT

Cross-channel train operator Eurostar says it carried more than 10 million passengers last year for the first time, as the economic recovery lifted demand for business travel.

Revenues from ticket sales rose 7% to £857m ($1.4bn) in 2013, while operating profit was up 4% to £54m.

However, new competition is coming from German rail operator Deutsche Bahn - Eurostar boss Nicolas Petrovic told BBC World that "competition is good" as it could potentially grow the market.
