UK floods: NFU condemns 'ludicrous' flood plan

25 February 2014 Last updated at 10:50 GMT

The National Farmers' Union (NFU) has condemned "ludicrous" plans to flood farms on high ground to prevent homes and businesses below being hit.

Engineers have proposed capturing rainfall in upland areas by felling trees into streams.

However, speaking to the Today programme, Mr Kendall said farmland was "far too valuable".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 25 February.
