Hammerson results mark 'tipping point' for UK retail

Shopping centre operator Hammerson has reported a 2.1% rise in underlying rental income.

The company is a major player in the retail property market in the UK - its outlets include Brent Cross Shopping Centre in London and the Bullring in Birmingham.

David Atkins, chief executive of Hammerson, told the Today programme: "Overall we're seeing a tipping point in the UK economy from a retail environment. This is the start of growth to come."
