Tory Burch on her billion-dollar fashion empire

17 October 2013 Last updated at 21:52 BST

How do you make your first billion dollars?

American fashion designer Tory Burch is one of only a handful of women in the world who can answer that question.

In less than a decade she's built her clothing company into a $2bn (£1.2bn) operation.

As part of the BBC's own 100 Women Series, Katty Kay spoke to her about what it takes for a woman to make it big in business, as she was in Washington speaking at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit.

Produced by Sarah Svoboda, filmed by Markus Zeffler and edited by Bill McKenna.
