A look at personal debt around the world

Household debt, the the amount of money adults in a home owe to financial institutions, has risen in most countries in the last few years.

But the way people borrow money and settle debts differs greatly around the world.

BBC correspondents in Washington, Lagos and Kabul compare and contrast the culture of loans.
