Has the HSBC scandal impacted on business?

4 March 2013 Last updated at 09:30 GMT

HSBC's profits have been hit by a $1.9bn (£1.2bn) dollar fine imposed on the bank by US authorities for allowing the laundering of money from Mexico and Iran.

The bank reported rising underlying profits in 2012, despite the cost of a regulatory fine.

In December the bank agreed to pay US authorities the fine in a settlement that was the largest paid in such a case.

HSBC's managers admit this episode has damaged the bank's reputation.

But how much of an impact is it actually having on business?

Jeremy Howell reports.
