The economics of India's Kumbh Mela

Billed as the biggest gathering on earth, India's Kumbh Mela is an overwhelming spectacle of religion and spirituality.

Millions of Hindus have flocked to Allahabad believing that a dip in the waters at Sangam - where the Ganges and Yamuna rivers meet.

The festival, which takes place on this scale only once every 12 years, could give a huge lift for the local economy, but it also presents enormous logistical challenges, as Yogita Limaye reports.
