First Hobbit film set to boost New Zealand tourism

The first film in The Hobbit trilogy is set its world premiere in New Zealand on Wednesday, and the country hopes it will boost its tourist trade.

Director Peter Jackson's previous blockbuster series, The Lord of the Rings, is thought to have brought up to 150,000 tourists to the country - worth about $400m (£250m) a year.

Sharanjit Leyl spoke to Tony Everitt, Tourism New Zealand's Asia manager in Shanghai.
