Malaysia awaits election budget

Malaysia unveils its annual budget on Friday, at a time when demand for the country's cheap exports is weakening and when government debt levels are rising.

International ratings agencies want to see the government implement a goods and services tax to widen its revenue base, but in an election year the focus may well be on giving more cash hand outs for the poor.

The BBC's Jennifer Pak in Kuala Lumpur looks at what the budget may bring.
