Australia's Asians making their mark

17 September 2012 Last updated at 22:04 BST

Asians now account for 2.4 million, or 12%, of Australia's 22.7 million population and Mandarin has surpassed Italian to become the most common second language.

Chinese and Indian populations, in particular, are moving into their second and third generations in large numbers.
