Australia's Asians making their mark
Asians now account for 2.4 million, or 12%, of Australia's 22.7 million population and Mandarin has surpassed Italian to become the most common second language.
Chinese and Indian populations, in particular, are moving into their second and third generations in large numbers.
As the BBC's Duncan Kennedy reports, Australia's culture is subtly changing as the Asian population is assimilated into the country's mainstream.
