Warning over spreading South African mine strikes

Help

A union affiliated with South Africa's ruling ANC has called for striking miners to return to work.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions fears the wider economy could be damaged if the strikes continue or escalate.

Production has been severely hit with several mines closed and there have been calls for a general strike across the country.

Jeremy Howells reports.
