Society of Motor Manufacturers report strong demand for UK cars

New car registrations rose by 0.1% in August compared with the same month in 2011, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said.

Chief executive Paul Everitt told BBC News that although the month's increase was moderate, the total year increase in sales is a cause for optimism in the sector.
