Japan's parliament approves sales tax increase
Japan's parliament has voted to double sales tax to 10%, in a move the government hopes the move will help close the country's budget deficit.
The legislation passed in a 188 to 49 vote, after Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda promised to bring forward elections.
