Can English sparkling wine impress the experts?
Made in England has not always been the best pitch when it comes to selling wine, but is that all about to change?
A panel of leading experts from the global wine industry were invited to England by the British wine expert Steven Spurrier - one of the world's most influential wine consultants. A positive review from these discerning taste makers could prove a significant boost to the English wine industry.
Steven Spurrier became famous for what is now known as The Judgment of Paris: a blind tasting of some of the top wines of France set against the top wines produced in California. To the chagrin of the French, the New World wines won. Four years ago, Hollywood turned the proceedings into film called "Bottle Shock", in which Steven Spurrier was played by Alan Rickman.
